Day 01: Drive from Delhi to Shimla (330 km/approx. 9 hours)
You will be picked up once you arrive at the Delhi airport/railway station and taken to Shimla. Check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Trip to Kufri
In the morning, go on an excursion to Kufri. Located 16 km from Shimla, this place is popular among tourists both during the summers and winters. Once you reach the top of the hill, you will see a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape and snow-clad peaks. The highest viewpoint in Kufri is the Mahasu Peak.
In the afternoon, return to the hotel. Go to Mall Road in the evening. A walk along Mall Road is like walking into a different time and place. British-style buildings that line the boulevard create an atmosphere of the olden days. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Trip to Naldehra
Naldehra is a charming hill station near Shimla and is home to the oldest golf course in the country. It was the favourite haunt of Lord Curzon, British Viceroy of India. Spend some time enjoying the natural beauty of this hill station and return to Shimla in the afternoon. You can stroll along Mall Road in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Drive from Shimla to Dharamshala (240 km/approx. 7 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Dharamshala. Check-in at the hotel and spend the evening resting or take a walk in the cool climate of the hills. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Sightseeing in Dharamshala
After breakfast, visit some tourist attractions around town. Go to the Tibetan Medical Centre and see the museum’s impressive collection of salts, fossils, corals, flowers, wood etc. that are used to make traditional Tibetan medicines. See lovely Belgian stained-glass windows at the Church of St. John. This Anglican church is located in a deodar forest. Visit a Tibetan monastery for a glimpse of local religious practices or take part in a meditation class. Enjoy the evening at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel
Day 06: Drive from Dharamshala to Dalhousie (130 km/approx. 4 hours)
After breakfast, drive from Dharamshala to Dalhousie. Check-in and spend time resting at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Dalhousie.
Day 07: Sightseeing in Dalhousie
After breakfast, visit the main tourist attractions in Dalhousie. Panchpula is a popular picnic spot where mountain streams bring water to form natural ponds. Tourists spend their time at the restaurant or at little stalls that sell tea and snacks. Take a walk amidst tall pine trees at the Subhash Baoli. This beautiful place has been named after Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Netaji meditated here while in Dalhousie. See the Bhulwani Mata Mandir at Bara Pathar and hike up the Bakrota Hills to see an impressive view of snow-clad peaks. Also, see St. John’s Church. It was the first church to be built after the town of Dalhousie was founded. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 08: Trip to Khajjiar
After breakfast, drive to Khajjiar to spend the day in what is called India’s ‘mini-Switzerland’. Khajjiar is among the 160 places in the world that was officially given the title because of its resemblance to the lovely landscapes in Switzerland. The lush green meadows are a photographer’s delight. Khajjiar Lake is situated at the centre of the plains.
Return to Dalhousie. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 09: Drive from Dalhousie to Amritsar (160 km/approx. 5 hours)
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Amritsar. Check-in at the hotel.
In the evening, visit the India-Pakistan border at Wagah. Watch the ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony where soldiers of both countries bring down their respective national flags in their unique styles. As the sun goes down, the air is filled with the sound of nationalistic slogans and patriotic songs. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Amritsar.
Day 10: Drive from Amritsar to Delhi (450 km/approx. 9 hours)
Go to the Golden Temple early in the morning. This is the most important gurudwara of the Sikhs and is a symbol of their religious and historic traditions. Then, visit Jallianwala Bagh, the site of a merciless massacre of innocent Indians at the hands of General Dyer.
Return to the hotel and enjoy a hot breakfast. Later, check-out from the hotel and drive to Delhi for your return journey.
